Mr. Joe Rueth, Sr., a resident here for many years was born at Jefferson, Wis., in 1857 and died of a stroke at his home February 17, 1937 at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 4 days. Funeral services were held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church Saturday, February 20th, Rev. Father Aurit officiating. Interment took place in the Loyal Catholic cemetery.

In 1882 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Roedl of Beaver Dam who preceded him in death 19 years ago. The couple moved to a farm near Beaver Dam where they lived until 1900 when they moved to Loyal where they since resided. To this union were born 9 children who were at his bedside at the time of death.

September 22, 1924 he was married to Ellen LaBarge who died Jan. 19, 1932.

He leaves to mourn his loss nine children namely, Frank, Joe, Theresa, John, Leo, Albert and Peter of Loyal, Verona and Martha [Mrs, Joe Zenz] of Cadott, Wis. He is also survived by three sisters [Annie] Mrs. Frank Guttenburg, [Mary] Mrs. Frank Schroedl, [Theresa] Mrs. Joe Werner, all of Jefferson; three brothers George, Ferdinand and Jake of Cost, Michigan; 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends who have our hearts of sympathy in their bereavement.

Pall bearers were Fred Stutte, Clem Esselman, Conrad Loos, Joe Becker, Joe Schmidt, and Frank Beaver. Flower girls were Mrs. Aug. Fricke, Mrs. Nick Beaver, Mrs. Joe Esselman, Mrs. Bert Brown and Miss Hazel Castner.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were Mrs. Lambert Rueth, Mrs. Joe Werner, Mrs. Mary Schroedl, Mrs. Frank Guttenburg, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Werner, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rueth and son Junior, Frank and Enos Schroedl all of Jefferson; Mrs. Bernard Gloudemans, Frank Roedl. Joe and Geo. Kastenmeier of Beaver Dam, Mrs. George Rueth and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ott of Madison, Verona Rueth and Mr. and Mrs. Martha Zenz and son Gary of Cadott.

CARDS OF THANKS: It is with grateful hearts we wish to thank the kind friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us in any way during the illness and death of our father. Especially do we thank Rev. Father Aurit, those who gave flowers, the pall bearers, the flower girls, those who furnished cars, Mr. Nichols and the town board for keeping the roads open.
