John Rueth died suddenly early Sarurday morning, May 13, of a heart ailment. Although he had mentioned having a pain in his heart, it had not prevented his going about his farm work as usual, and his sudden death came as a shock to relatives and friends.

He was born in Beaver Dam, Jan. 1890. In 1900 he came with his parents to Loyal. They made their home on a farm about one and one-half miles southwest of the village. Here he grew to manhood. since then he has lived on several farms all in this vicinity. About 18 years ago he moved to the farm northwest of Loyal where his death occurred. His sister Thresia has been his house-keeper for several years. Following his death his body was taken to his childhood home where he remained until the time of the funeral.

Of a family of nine children who grew to man and womanhood he is the first to go. Both parents preceded him in death. He is survived by five brothers, Frank, Joseph, Leo, Albert, and Peter all of Loyal, and three sisters, Thersia of Loyal and Verona and Mrs. Martha Zenz of Marathon City.

His funeral was held in St. Anthony's Catholic Church Tuesday morning with Father Aloys Zinthefer officiating. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery.

Pall bearers were Ed. Beaver, Ed. Bertz, Chris Bentzler, Wm. Murphy, Roman Braun and Raphael Haas. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Mike Beaver, Mrs. August Fricke, Mrs. Edgar Verhalen, Mrs. Joseph Esselman and Mrs. Alex Davel. His sisters, Miss Verona Rueth and Mrs. Marth Zenz and her son Gary came from Marathon City to attend the funeral.
