LAST NAME: Benedict FIRST NAME: Sanford DATE: January 24, 1935 NEWSPAPER: The Loyal Tribune CITY: Loyal STATE: Wisconsin TRANSCRIBED TEXT: Sanford William Benedict, son of Adonijah and Clarissa Benedict, was born in the Town of Eldorado, Fond du Lac County, Wis., Nov. 20, 1853 and died at his home near York Center, Wis. Jan. 18, 1935, aged 81 years, 1 month and 18 days. He was married to Miss Margaret E. Lawrence, on July 1, 1877, by Rev. Hendren. To this union wre born three sons, William E., Merle H. and Rollie O., all of York Center, and one daughter, Mrs. Belle Smith, of Loyal, Wis. Mr. Benedict came to Clark County 62 years ago, when he was 19 years old, and has lived here ever since. That he was a highly respected citizen is indicated by the fact he was the assessor for the Town of York for 35 years, and for two years was chairman of the York Town Board. Besides those already mentioned, he leaves to mourn his departing, one brother, Charles H., of Walla Walla, Wash., also ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was a member of the York Center Methodist Episcopal Church, having united with that organization in August 1884. Sunset and evening star, and one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, when I put out to sea, but such a tide as moving seems asleep, too full for sound and foam, when that which drew from out the boundless deep, turns again home. And may there by no sadness of farewell, when I embark, for, though from out our bourn of time and place, the flood may be bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face when I have crossed the bar. -- Tennyson The funeral services were held at the home, near York Center, Monday, Jan 21st, and the interment was at the York Center cemetery, Mr. Walter Nichols, of Loyal, was the undertaker and Rev. Austin N. Chapman, pastor of the Loyal and York Center Methodist Episcopal Churches officiated. CARD OF THANKS We wish to acknowledge with sincere thanks the kind expression of sympathy shown us during the death and burial of our dearly beloved husband and father. We wish to thank those who sent flowers, furnished cars, those who acted as pall bearers, Rev. Chapman for his consoling words and all friends who helped in any way to lighten our sorrow.
