MRS. E. GEHRKE BURIED AT HANCOCK TUESDAY

Nine o'clock, Tuesday morning, April 22, funeral services were conducted from the Griebenow Funeral Home for Mrs. Ernest Gehrke, whose remains were later take to Hancock, where services were conducted at two o'clock from the church, with Rev. C. S. Matthews of Owen officiating. Interment was made in the family lot in the church cemetery at Hancock.

Mrs. Ernest Gehrke, nee Ruby Augusta Holcomb, was born in Adams county, Wisconsin, on April 25, 1888. She spent her early life in this community, developing into womanhood and for several years taught school before moving to Withee. While a resident of this community she muet and married her husband, Ernest Gehrke on September 26, 1906. The couple was blessed with 11 children, three of whom, Alice, Julia and Russell, have preceded her in passing on. Those who are left to mourn her passing are her husband, six sons: Lewis of Withee, Paul, Neskoosa, and Donald of Owen, and Alfred, Julius and Allen at home, and two daughters.,: Mrs. Margaret Holmes, Hancock, and Mrs. Grace Boyles, Owen; 17 grandchildren, seven brothers, two sisters and a host of other relatives and friends.

For Twenty-five years after their marriage the family lived on various farms in the vicinity of Withee. In 1931 they returned to Adams county, making their home for seven years in the community where she had spent her early life, returning again to Clark County in 1938, where she had lived until she passed away on April 17, while a patient at the Neillsville hospital.

Pallbearers at the services Tuesday were: Bill and Lewis Gehrke, Albert Dresdow, Walter Dresdow, Howard Grandy and Art Karow.
