Otto Schmidtke, 77, Route1, Granton, died at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday at the Neillsville Memorial Hospital, following a lingering illness. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the York Center Methodist Church with the Rev. Conrad Mickelson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Hansen Funeral Home in Marshfield from noon Friday until 11 a.m. Saturday, and then at the church. Mr. Schmidtke was born August 28, 1891, in the Town of Fremont in Clark County, where he received his education. He was married June 25,1930 to Flossie Davis. The couple farmed in York and Fremont Townships. He also had been employed at the Greunke cheese factory for 11 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post at Loyal and a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Charles (Lola) Brown, Lake Forest, Illinois; Mrs. Harvey (Bonnie) Degenhardt, Loyal; Mrs. Harvey (Luanne) Spangler, Dodge City, Kansas; and Mrs. Norman (Norita) Adler, Zion, Illinois; a son, Otto Algene Schmidtke, Stratford; 10 grandchildren; five brothers, William, Granton; Ernest, Menasha; Herman, California; Henry, Ledgewood, North Dakota; and Paul, Loyal; and two sisters, Mrs. Gustie Madler, Evergreen Park, Illinois; and Mrs. Earl (Ella) Dumas, Tacoma, Washington. He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
