Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church for Fred F. Machlett, 69, who passed away at his home on Saturday morning, March 12, 1948, from a heart attack. Rev. G. E. Boreson officiated and burial was made in the family lot in the Parish Cemetery. Arthur Lee Lokken, accompanied by Dorothy Thompson, san "O God of Promise" and the "Old Rugged Cross". Pallbearers were John Michlig, Alfred Erickson, Lee Smiley, Grant Horvick, George Hoff and Albert Klessig.

In charge of the large floral tributes were Jackie Rice, Evelyn Kludy, Virginia Jacobson, Loraine Boos, Dorothy Klug, Anna Marie Schrafnagel, and Grace Randall. Over 40 friends made contributions for church work in his memory.

Fred Machlett was born her on June 6, 1878, and lived here all his life, with the exception of a few years at Owen, Clark County, Wis. He is survived by his wife and one son, Henry, of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Ben Machlett, Eau Claire; one sister, Mrs. O. C. (Rosa) Cox of Kennan.

He was the manager of the Bootzin Feed Store in Curtiss, Clark County. Besides his family he leaves a host of friends to mourn his sudden death. Among out of town people attending the rites were: Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kludy and Jerome Johnson, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bejin Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bejin Jr., of Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Machlett and son Jimmie, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Jacobson, Chetek; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Randall, Sturgeon Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bootzin, Medford; Mrs. O. C. Cox and son, Kennan; Mrs. Wm. Klug, Milwaukee; Miss Anna B. Hanson, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Machlett, Cleveland, Ohio; Miss Jackie Rice, Toledo, Ohio; Rev. and Mrs. W. L. Anderson and daughters, Rosholt; Ferdinand Laabs of Pocatello, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Oluf Olson and John Peterson, Neillsville.
