Obit: McBride, Isabel (1837 - 1906)
Surnames: MCBRIDE WISE LINCOLN MARTIN LADD ---------Source: HUMBIRD ENTERPRISE (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) 10/06/1906 --------- McBride, Isabel (18 JUL 1837 - 27 SEP 1906) The silent messenger of Death has been here and taken one of our oldest settlers (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.), Mrs. James McBride, destroying happiness in the home and bringing sorrow to her friends. Mrs. McBride was born in Indiana July 18, 1837, and after a brief illness of untold suffering, died at her home in this place Sept. 27, 1906. Everything that medical skill and a loving husband and children could do was done to prolong life, but the shock was too severe for her to withstand. Mr. McBride was a kind neighbor and a loving mother, ever ready to help where help was needed. She was a great home loving body, having a quiet disposition. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, to which she belonged at the time of her death. Mrs. McBride, whose maiden name was Isabel Wise, was first united in marriage to A. E. Ladd, and to them six children were born. On Oct. 19, 1873, she was united to James McBride in marriage. One little girl was born to them, but death claimed her in early childhood. Besides her aged husband, she leaves a brother, S. A. Wise, two sons, Wm. Ladd, whose home is in Minnesota, Frank Martin of Jackson Co.; and two daughters, Mrs. Phoebe Lincoln of Stanley, and Mrs. Ella Martin of Granton, besides several grandchildren, to mourn her death. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the M. E. Church, the Rev. B. C. Sills conducting, and the remains were laid to rest in the Houghtonburg Cemetery. |
