Obit: Johnson, Anna (1870 - 1924)
Source: THE NEILLSVILLE PRESS (Neillsville, Clark County, Wisconsin) 09/24/1924 Mrs. Justin Johnson, whose home was Romadka, was stricken with apoplexy at the fair grounds on Wednesday. Medical aid was summoned and she was taken immediately to her home. She did not re-gain consciousness but passed away that night September 17th, at 9:30 o’clock. Anna McMahon was born in Essex County, New York, and at the time of her death was 54 years, 4 months and 7 days old. She was married to Justin Johnson at Neillsville October 23, 1895, and shortly after their marriage they moved to the farm which has been their home ever since. Mrs. Johnson was highly esteemed by all who knew her, she was generous and kind hearted, ever ready to be of service to those about her, and she will be greatly missed in the home and the community. She leaves to mourn her death her husband and three children: a son Robert living on a farm near by and two daughters Lizzie and Margaret at home. She leaves also one brother, Joseph McMahon on the home farm and one sister, Mrs. Jack Free who lives in China. The funeral was held Saturday forenoon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville, Rev. P. Weber officiating. The pall bearers were Joseph Kubat, William Kubat, Wenzel Sladek, James Baker, Gus Bergeman, and Peter Madler. It was the largest funeral held in many years from the Town of York, many from Granton village being in attendance, which testifies most strongly to the respect held for the memory of the deceased. |
