Obit: Kile, David J. (1923 - 2004)
Wednesday, January 28, 2004 edition of the Tribune - Record - Gleaner David Kile David J. KIle, 80, Thorp, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, Stanley. No formal services were held. Interment will take place later this spring at the Butler Cemetery, rural Thorp, with graveside military rites performed by Thorp American Legion Post 118. David John Kile was born may 23, 1923, in the Town of Butler, rural Thorp, to John and Alma (nee Butler) Kile. He was educated at area schools. He entered the Marine Corps and served his country during World War II in Guam and Guadalcanal. After his discharge from the Marines, he married Julie Bergant on April 6, 1946, in Stanley. They farmed in the Town of Butler for 15 years before moving to the city of Thorp. There, he worked at various jobs, including Thorp Flour and Feed, Thorp Lumber, and the city of Thorp, until his retirement. His interests included deer hunting, ice fishing, reading, and playing cards. He had resided at oakbrook Health and Rehab for the past three years. He was a member of the Thorp American Legion Post 118, and also served as the town assessor for the Town of Butler for one term. Survivors include his wife, Julie Kile, Greenwood; two sons, David Kile, Thorp, and Wallace Kile, Thermopolis, Wyoming; three grandchildren, Mitze, Harley, and Gretchen; one sister, Alma (Gerald) Dietche, Fond du lac; two brothers, Lyle (Lorraine) Kile, Wenatchee, Wash., and Dean (Jeanette) Kile, John Day, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Bud Kile, Lawrence Kile, and Kenneth Kile; and one sister, June Blum. Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. |
