Obit: Hubler, John (1842 - 1917)
Surnames: HUBLER GREUB ---------Source: HUMBIRD ENTERPRISE (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) 03/17/1917 --------- Hubler, John (6 AUG 1842 - 8 MAR 1917) John Hubler was born in Baeterkinden, Bern, Switzerland, on Aug. 6, 1842. He grew to manhood in his native village, and learned the occupation of cheesemaker. In 1882 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Greub, and the following year they came to the U. S. For a couple of years they lived in Oshkosh, and then in Green Co., where he worked as cheesemaker for fifteen years. He moved to Buffalo Co., where they resided for five years and then went back to Green Co., where he followed his trade until age required him to stop. About five years ago he and his wife took up their residence in a house on John Greub's farm, which has since been their home. Mr. Humbler was a relative of Mr. Greub by marriage. He departed this life on Thursday, March 8, 1917, soon after noon, after a few days illness with pneumonia, which followed an attack of the grip, from which he suffered several weeks ago. Mr. Humbler leaves his wife, an adopted son, who is in Canada, and one brother, Rudolph of Stitzer. The funeral was held at the Reformed Church on Monday forenoon, and the burial was in the Mentor Cemetery. Rev. D. Grether officiated. Mr. Humbler was a man well liked by those who had the pleasure of his acquaintance, and will be greatly missed in the home and by the helpmate with whom he had lived happily for thirty-five years. |
