LEVI ARCHER, deceased, was born in Ontario County, New York, in 1835. He located in Clark County, Wisconsin, in 1855, becoming one of the pioneers of the State. In early life he learned the blacksmith trade, which he followed in Indiana for some time prior to his coming to Wisconsin. He worked at his trade awhile in this State, but up to the time of his death he was president of Clark County Bank.

He was married January 19, 1858, and to him and his wife one son was born. This son, Frank, is now twenty-two years of age and is a clerk in a Neillsville bank. Mr. Archer died in 1889, leaving a large farm in section 35, Pine Valley Township, to his widow and son. They occupy this place, and Mr. Archer's mother, a lady well advanced in years, makes her home with them. Mrs. Rosisla R. Archer is a kind and intelligent lady and is surrounded by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.

The above illustration is the residence of Frank Archer. The picture, although the point from which it was taken does not give a correct idea as to the size of the building, suggests a coziness with its wealth of foliage that is indeed inviting. The immense barns and other farm building's are among the best in the county. The farm contains 235 acres, 110 acres of which are under improvement. Black River forms the west line of the farm, giving abundance of water for stock. The livestock on the farm consists of 65 head of blooded and graded cattle, 9 head of horses, besides hogs and poultry. There is one barn 40 x 100 feet, 40 feet high; one 22 x 36, two stories high; one hay and grain barn 30X60; a blacksmith and carpenter shop 18X22, with store room above; a piggery 16 x 100, two stories high, besides a large and substantial woodshed and storehouse. The land ties just sufficiently rolling to give drainage, and it is considered one of the best in the county. It lies three miles south of Neillsville, making it a most desirable country home.
