The Family of Bert & Mary (Mathison) Stoneburg

Wilbert "Bert" Rierson Stoneburg, was born September 2, 1862 in Percy Township, Northumberland, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of Peter & Sarah Ann (Young) Stoneburg. Peter Stoneburg's father was Jacob Stoneburg and was born 1801 Ontario and Mother was Catharine born 1801 Canada. Jacob's father was Peter Stoneburg born 1775 Ontario and mother Mrs. Peter Stoneburg born 1779 Ontario. Sarah Ann Young Stoneburg was born September 8, 1832 at Quinte Point, Prince Edward, Ontario, Canada and died August 5, 1882 in Greenwood, Clark, Wisconsin. She is buried in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Her father, Daniel Young, was born October 1807 Hollowell Twp., Prince Edward, Ontario. His father was Daniel Young born 1781 Piscataway, Union, NJ. Daniel Young's wife was Dorcus Oliver Conger Born 1768 Elizabethtown, New Jersey. Sarah Ann's mother was Rebecca Weeks born 1812 Northcastle, Westchester, NY, does not say when she died. Rebecca's father was Thomas Weeks born September 23, 1754 New Castle Long Island, N.Y. and he married Penelope (Cox) Cock who was born August 5, 1756 in Buckram, Nassau, NY.
Bert Stoneburg married Mary Caroline (Mattison) Mathison 27-Oct-1882 in Eaton, Clark, WI. She was the daughter of Martin (Mattison) Mathison and Karen (Larsdatter) Sevelson and was born February 11,1864 in Wisconsin. They farmed in Section 13, Eaton Township. Bert & Mary had seven children:

2. Elsie Maud Stoneburg, b. 3-Feb-1890 in Eaton, Clark, WI, d. 2-Aug-1967 in Cottage Grove, Lane, Oregon; Early Photo; Elsie with four friends;
3. Clarence Oscar Stoneburg, b. 21-May-1895 in Eaton, Clark, WI, d. 12-Sep-1967 in Cottage Grove, Lane, Oregon.
4. Annie Eveland Stoneburg, b. 17-Aug-1892 in Eaton, Clark, WI, d. Nov-1982 in Cottage Grove, Lane, Oregon.
5. Harry Stinson Stoneburg, b. 28-Aug-1887 in Eaton, Clark, WI, d. 22-Oct-1969 in Cottage Grove, Lane, Oregon.
6. Bertha May Stoneburg, b. 13-Sep-1885 in Eaton, Clark, WI, d. 1975 in Lewiston, Nez Perce, ID.
7. Fern Leona Stoneburg, b. 15-Sep-1900 in Eaton, Clark, WI, d. 12-Ju.-1990 in Cottage Grove, Lane, Oregon; Photo of Fern (with two unknown children, in Greenwood, WI).

Most of the Stoneburg sisters and one brother lived in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Clarence lived in Cottage Grove and moved to Yreka, California in the 1940's. Fern married Fred Anderson and lived right next door to her parents. Annie married Harley Gates, who also was from Greenwood, and she lived about 8 blocks from her parents. Inez was married a second time after her first husband, Meeks, died and then the married a man whose last name was Hoyt. She lived about four blocks from her folks. Harry Stoneburg, lived just across town and he married Agnes Flaherty, who was also from Greenwood. Mary's mother, Karen (Larsdatter) Mathison, also moved to Cottage Grove and lived with Annie.
Annie Mathison and Bert Stoneburg are buried in the Greenwood City Cemetery.
