John Huntzicker

John Huntzicker was born on a farm in the town of Eaton, near Greenwood. He grew up in that area and attended school, also Wisconsin University. He purchased a farm, near the old homestead. He served as town clerk of Eaton for eight years, also was town chairman and was member of the County Board for three years. Upon his election as county treasurer, he bought a home on the Neillsville city's north side.

I know that of the 3 pioneer Huntzicker brothers: Henry, George, and Jacob, that Jacob died in 1888, George went to Neillsville in 1877, and Henry stayed on his farm. Henry's son, however, John Huntzicker (1867-1924) is a good candidate for this house: John had been town clerk of Eaton for 8 years, and became Clark Co. Treasurer in 1902. In 1912, John was the first cashier of the Farmers and Merchants Bank. He had five children, so I'm thinking hard that John Huntzicker may have owned the house featured in the photo tour of historic Greenwood homes, #22.  But can't yet confirm.  Cecily Cook
