Wentworth Dow was born in Kingsclear, New Brunswick, Canada Nove 20, 1829 to William and Sarah A (McKeen) Dow.  He was the first born son and oldest of nine children.  He served the Union Army during the Civil War as a private in Company E, 16th Regiment, of the volunteer infantry.

After the war, March 21, 1866, he wed Mehitable "Hattie" Enone Dawes who was born in Maine during 1843.

Wentworth made his living lumbering and farming in Fremont Township, Clark County, Wisconsin.  When he died the 23rd of March, 1904, he was laid to rest in the Yolo Cemetery in Fremont Township.  Subsequently many other family members have been laid to rest there as well.  We are unsure if Hattie is also buried there.
