Craig, George W. (1828? - 7 JUL 1901)
George W. Craig was born in March, 1828 in Canada. He was a faithful soldier in the Civil War and a member of Co. E 18th Regiment., Wis. Infantry, and was held in high esteem by his comrades. Dec. 14, 1861, he was living in Almond, Portage Co., Wisconsin and enlisted for a term of three years with the Union Army. Cornelia Eastling became his bride the 4th of July, 1849 in Hobart, Lake Co., Indiana. He died July 7, 1901 in Thorp, Clark Co., Wisconsin and was buried in the East Thorp Village Cemetery. At the time of his death, he was 73 years old. He is buried in the East Thorp Village Cemetery.
Craig, Cornelia (Eastling)
Cornelia Eastling Craig was born October 14, 1831 in Ontario, Canada, to Luther Calvin Eastling (b. 30 May 1791, MA, d. 1880 circa) and Maria VanSiclen (b. 15 Sep 1801, NY, d. 4 Mar 1868, Almond, Portage Co., WI). Her parents married 22 Jul 1814 in Canada. Both Cornelia's mother and father are buried in Lone Pine Cemetery, Almond, Portage Co., Wisconsin.
After suffering from Bright's Disease and Dropsy (edema) for about 18 months, she died at the age of seventy-one years and 8 months on June 5, 1902 and was buried in the East Thorp Cemetery. . She suffered from Brights' Disease and Dropsy (edema) for about 18 months before her death. She was under the care of Dr. W. B. Seldon of Thorp, Wisconsin.
