William James & Emma Poltice (Staves) Aucutt/Ancutt

Wagon maker, William J. Aucutt/Ancutt was born in 1828 in New York State.  He fought as a private with Co. C. of the 32nd WI Infantry during the Civil War.  He married Emma Poltice, the daughter of John and Mary Ann (Poltice) Staves on February 17, 1855.  She was born May 16, 1838 and following her death, February 2, 1895, she was laid to rest in the East Thorp Village Cemetery, Clark Co., Wisconsin.  Their son, Harry Derwood Aucutt, was born February 8, 1868.  He married Alice Maude, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Dobeer) Steele, September 16, 1894.  She was born July 7, 1873-1875.  Both Alice and Harry are buried in the East Thorp Village Cemetery.
