Your James A. Tilden is James Alfred Tilden born 7 March 1840 in Ohio. He died 27 May 1908 in Ft. Atkinson, Jefferson, WI at Dr. Brewer's Hospital and was buried 29 May 1908 in Sumner, Jefferson, WI.

James first married Mary E. Stafford who was born in Ohio on 27 October 1863 in Jefferson Co., WI. Mary died 29 December 1875 in Calamus, Dodge, WI. They had three children: Anna Bell, William and Edith V.

James second married Julia McCarty Ross, widow of Edwin Ross on 6 September 1876 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kingston, Green Lake, WI. They had two children, Irving R. and Augustine Carlyle. Julia and James were divorced on 2 Jan 1883 in Montello, Marquette, WI.

James third married Katherine (Kate) Butler Emrath, widow of Peter Emrath Jr. on 21 November 1887 in Burnett, Dodge, WI.
