Daniel H. Morris Daniel H. Morris was b 26 June 1841 in NY and he grew to manhood and married. His first wife, Jane, and their daughter, Mary, died in Weyauwega, Waupaca WI; however, their son, Albert Morris survived. Daniel H Morris came to WI. and entered the Civil War serving in Co F of the 44th WI. Inf. from 15 Oct 1864 till 28 Aug 1865.
44th Regiment, Wisconsin Infantry
Organized at Madison, Wis., by Companies October-November, 1864, and
ordered to Nashville, Tenn., as fast as completed. Companies "A," "B,"
"C," "D" and "F" reached Nashville during October and November. Battle
of Nashville December 15-16. Attached to Post and Defenses of
Nashville till March, 1865. Paducah, Ky., Dept. of Kentucky, to August,
1865. Additional Research Notes by Lani Bartelt On 12 Oct 1873 he was united in marriage with Miss Lillian Leggett at Weyauwega, WI. where they resided for a time, They then moved to Hartford, WI and in 1895 they came to Thorp, Clark Co. WI. From this marriage Daniel & Lillian had a daughter Blanche, who married an Auman and died at an early age (photo below) –and two sons, Layton and, Elton Morris. Daniel H Morris d 23 Dec 1919 at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 23 days. At the time of his death his wife, Lillian, and his sons survived him. Albert Morris of McCord WI: and Elton Morris; and six grandchildren. The following Morris family members are buried at East Thorp Village Cemetery Clark Co. Lillian E. (Leggett) Morris
Lillian was the daughter of Andrew J. and Eliza Hathaway Leggett. She was born in 1854 in New York, married Daniel Morris October 12, 1873 and died in 1936. She is buried in the East Thorp Village Cemetery, Thorp, Wisconsin.
Blanche (Morris) Auman/Auhman
Born in Waupaca, Blanche Auman/Auhman was the daughter of Daniel H. & Lillian (Leggett) Morris. She died at the age of forty. She was then the wife of William Roy Auman who was born in Illinois in 1886. She was the first wife of William Auhman. After her death, William Roy Auman remarried a woman named "Emma" and they had three children.
