George C. & Margaret (Andrews) Hoehne

Greenwood, Clark Co., Wisconsin

George C. Hoehne was a lifetime resident of Greenwood, Wisconsin area where he, his brother and father operated a hardware store and also were engaged in the plumbing and heating business.  He was born February 5, 1905 to Carl & Emma Lena (Runkel) Hoehne.

Dec. 18, 1932, he married the former Margaret Andrews at Greenwood.  She was born Sept. 11, 1911 and was the daughter of Frank and Eva (Arms) Andrews.

 

The Hoehne family belonged to the Zion United Church of Christ in Greenwood, Wisconsin.  George was a member of the Masonic Lodge 249, Neillsville Chapter No. 66 of the Royal Arch Masons, Neillsville Commandry No. 36 and Zor Shrine Temple.  Margaret belonged to the Greenwood Women's Club.

 

George died of a heart attack October 18, 1975.  His wife, Margaret (Andrews) Hoehne died July 23, 1995.  They are both buried in the Greenwood City Cemetery.

George Hoehne belonged to the prestigious Greenwood Commercial Club and was its treasurer the year a Banquet was held in honor of the unveiling of the Peace Monument given to the city by Ernest Durig in 1937.  His father, Carl C. Hoehne, was also one of the area residents who had a bust made by the artist.
