The original name of Joseph and his ancestors was Eisennagle. It changed over the years as various officials and bureaucrats spelled the name as it sounded to them. Joseph's father William was Isanogle in Ohio and when he came to Richland County, Wis. In either a land deal or entering his children in school the spelling changed to Eysnogle. Even this was not total for in the census records Joseph was an Eysnogle and his brother Jacob just down the road from him was Isanogle.
