Ezra S. & Josephine M. Donaldson Greenwood, Clark County, Wisconsin
Ezra S. Donaldson was a Minnesota born hardware merchant merchant in Greenwood, Wisconsin. He was a tall man of medium build with blue eyes and brown hair. He was born November 24, 1875 and married his wife, Josephine M. in 1899. She was also a Minnesota native and was born in April of 1876. February 12, 1900, Ezra and Josephine were faced with the unexpected death of their tiny baby which they buried with great sadness in the Greenwood City Cemetery. In August, Josephine had a prolonged visit with her family in Minnesota.
Eddie Carpenter was in the hardware business with the E. S. Donaldson Company for some, later conducting the business alone. After Ezra sold the business, he and Josephine moved to South Dakota where they became the proud parents of an infant son named Grant M. in 1908. Ezra then supported his wife and son with the tinner's trade. At the outbreak of World War I, they were residing at 1413 Breda, St Paul, Ramsey Co., Minnesota. In later years he was a Manual Training Instructor, Hancock School, St. Paul, Ramsey Co., Minnesota. Josephine was also a public school teacher.
At the age of nineteen, their only son, Grant M. Donaldson, married seventeen year old Mabel Gray of St. Paul and they quickly provided a granddaughter named Elizabeth A. Donaldson for Ezra and Josephine. Grant and Mabel lived with her grandmother in District 145 of St. Paul.
