Deputy Jacobson awarded Meritorious Award

Clark County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Dawn Jacobson received the 2009 Meritorious Award for helping rescue a crash victim last December.
Each year, the Wisconsin Professional Police Association (WPPA) pays tribute to its members and other citizens for outstanding service to their communities during the preceding calendar year.
Jacobson arrived at the scene of a vehicle fire Dec. 15, 2008, at 2:11 p.m.
When Jacobson arrived, the vehicle was on fire; one occupant was tangled in the seatbelt and unable to get out of the vehicle.
Jacobson was able to maneuver him enough to get him out from underneath the harness. Jacobson’s glove and jacket had burned; the victim’s jacket had burned off his back, but his shirt had protected his skin.
For performing with great courage, ability and devotion to police service, the 2009 Meritorious Award was presented to Jacobson May 31. The award was presented during the WPPA’s 77th annual convention at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells. The association presented awards and recognized other outstanding individuals for their service and extraordinary acts of heroism.
Jacobson also received the Heroism Award July 7 from the Wisconsin Sheriff’s and Deputy Sheriff’s Association.
