MRS. STELLA STEVENS, LOYAL'S OLDEST CITIZEN DIES SUDDENLY

 

Mrs. Stella Stevens, 93, 11 N. Division St., Loyal, Clark County, died at 5 p.m. Friday, April 11, 1975 at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville.


Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Gene Carlson officiating. Burial took place in the Loyal Cemetery.


Miss Connie Smith sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages" , accompanied by Mrs. Ray Feldt on the organ.
Pallbearers were Ross Stevens, Fred Summers, Harold Bechler, Herbert Voss, Glen Eldridge, and Joseph Bowman.
The Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, was in charge of arrangements.


Mrs. Stevens was the oldest resident of the city of Loyal.


She was born May 14, 1881 in the Town of Sherman and received her education at the Taft School in the town of Sherman.


The former Stella Bowman was married on Sept. 17, 1905 to Ruel Stevens. They started farming in 1906 in the town of Sherman, where they farmed for 44 years. They retired in 1947 when they moved to the city of Loyal.


She was a member of the Methodist Church and was a 50 year member of the Royal Neighbors.
They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in Loyal in 1955.


Her husband preceded her in death in January of 1958.


She is survived by one son, Stanley, R. 1, Loyal, 2 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren one brother, Lawrence Bowman, Hatfield, Wis.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.
