GUSTAVE R. BORDE (1869 - 1934)

Gustave Reinhold Borde was born at Farmington, Wis., July 4, 1869 and passed away at his home in this city Neillsville, Clark, Wisconsin, Tuesday afternoon, April 24 1934 , aged 64 years, 9 months and 20 days.

He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Borde, and grew to manhood on the home farm. He was educated in the Christian Day school at Farmington.

On January 26, 1898, he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Kind of Ebenezer, Wis.

The young couple made their first home at Farmington. In 1900 they moved to Randolph, Wis., where they lived for three years before moving to Elgin, Ill.

In 1906 Mr. and Mrs. Borde and family came to Clark county and bought a large farm in Pine Valley a short distance south of Neillsville. This was their home for 25 years.

In 1931 they purchased a home on South Grand Avenue in Neillsville and retired from farm life.

Mr. Borde was a man of quiet tastes, an excellent farmer, industrious and upright in character, he went about the duties of life without vain show, doing well each day the work that came to his hand. He was a sincere Christian, active in the work of St. John's Lutheran Church, serving for a number years on the church board of trustees.

Mr. Borde leaves to mourn his death, his wife and three children Walter, on the home farm in Pine Valley Herbert in Neillsville, and Viola, Mrs. John Buehler, Elgin, Ill., and 6 grandchildren also three brothers, Frank, Charles, and Edwin, all of Rio, Wis six sisters Mrs. Minnie Carlile, St. Paul Mrs. Martha Rieman, Eau Claire Mrs. Ida Raabe, Rio, Mrs. Lizzie Hereath, Eau Claire Mrs. Emma Arndt, Beaver Dam, and Mrs. Lydia Nintzel of Doylestown, Wis., and other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 in the home and 2 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rev. Wm. Baumann officiating.

The pallbearers were Wm. Naedler, Carl Lewerenz, Sr., Charles Tex.; Wm. Radke, Frank Hemp, and Otto Zaeske.

The flower children were Mildred Baumann, Marian Lewerenz, Arnold Lewerenz, Marcus Baumann, and the six grandchildren.

All of the brothers and sisters except Mr. Minne Carlile were present at the funeral, Mrs. Carlile being detained by an accident. Others from away were Mr. and Mrs. John Buehler and their four children of Elgin, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Kind and son Harry of Menasha.
