Aaron Catlin Called by Death.

Aaron Catlin one of the most highly respected citizens of Loyal, passed away at his home on the north side of town Tuesday night, Feb. 8th, 1916 at the age of 76 years, 5 months, and 23 days. He was born Aug. 15th, 1839 in Indiana and lived there with his parents until they died. When he was about 9 years of age he came to Wauwatosa, Wis., and resided with his older brother until he enlisted in the Civil War, in July 1867 and went into service at Bridgeport, Wis., as a private of the 10th Battery, Wisconsin Volunteers Light Infantry, under Capt. Beebe and Lieutenant B. M. Grossheck. He was assigned to the 3rd Division, 17 Corps of Tennessee and three days after the siege of Savannah was taken prisoner and sent to Andersonville prison, where he remained three months. He was honorably discharged at the close of the war.

Always a kind and indulgent husband and father, honest and just in all his dealings, lending a helping hand to all in need, with a kind word and smile for all, he leaves behind him a record of which anyone might be proud.

Being deaf since the war, caused him to become a great reader, in which way he spent many hours that would otherwise have been lonely, and although he never made a profession of religion, only in his day life, he was a great bible student.

June 25, 1866 at Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wis., he was united in marriage to Miss Jane Rattery and in 1883 moved to Clark County on a farm east of Loyal, where he resided until about four years ago, with his wife he moved to town leaving the farm in charge of one of his sons.
He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife and five children. William, Frank, Anna Hutchins, Thomas, and Otto, ten grand children and two great grand children.

The funeral was held Friday from the Methodist Church, Rev. W. P. Power officiating, and interment was made at the Loyal Cemetery.
Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were, Clark Davis of Cederburg, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cole of West Bend, Mrs. Geo. Allanson of Menasha, and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lewis and two children of Richland Center.
