WILLIAM CELAR (1914-1996)


William Celar, 81, Neillsville, Clark County, died Wednesday, May 15, 1996, at his home. Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 1996, at Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. Rev. Douglas Bjerke officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Pallbearers were George Thoma, Fred Barr, Larry Barr, Scott Barr, Tom Barr and Steve Denk.


William Celar was born on May 19, 1914, in Chicago, Ill., to Lawrence and Marian (nee Zavrl) Celar. As a young boy he moved with his family to Willard. He received his education in the Willard area. After his education, he farmed with his family in Willard. He moved to Chicago as a young man and worked at the Republic Drill Company in Chicago for 36 years. He married Ruth Jozwick in Chicago on Nov. 25, 1957. She survives. They lived in Chicago until moving to Neillsville in 1974 after his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, yard work and being outdoors.


Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of Neillsville one daughter, Mrs. Marie (George) Lassus, Tampa Bay, Fla. one sister, Mrs. Bernice (Fred) Barr, Willard two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.


Gesche Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
