Benny Clarkson (1934 - 1999)


Former Medford native, Benny L. "Gentle Ben" Clarkson, 64, Peshtigo, died Friday, Nov. 5 at Whispering Oaks Care Center.


Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 8 at Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home in Peshtigo with Rev. Ronald Helgerson officiating.


Benny L. Clarkson was born December 16, 1934 at Medford to the late Louis "Dutch" and Verna (Anderson) Clarkson. His marriage to the former Leora (Porter) Sell, who survives, took place at Marinette on February 24, 1984.


He had retired from the US Air Force. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, electrical work and fixing bicycles.


In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Rick (Sue), Withee, Clark County, WI two step-sons, Carl (Sandra) Sell, Peshtigo, and Bill (Angel) Sell, Marinette five brothers, Richard, Medford, Harvey (Jonnie) Cabool, Mo., Lloyd (Lois), Dorchester, Clark County, WI, Allen (Rose), Savanna, Ill., and Gerald (Esther), Minocqua four sisters, Janet (Bob) Geddings, S.C., Diane (Glen) Abbott, Calif., Marcy (Louis) Matthias, Medford, and Dorie (John) Nephe, Mich. and six grandchildren.
