Neva Decker (1922-1999)


Neva O. Decker, 76, Dorchester, died Sunday, Nov. 7 at her residence in the Town of Little Black.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, with Rev. James Schaefer officiating.


Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10 at the St. Louis Catholic Church with a Parish Council of Catholic Women Rosary at 5:15 p.m. and a Parish Rosary at 7 p.m. Burial will take place at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.


Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford, Clark County, WI assisted the family with arrangements.


The former Neva Opal Sulik was born December 17, 1922 at Curtiss to the late Joseph and Rena (Longbecker) Sulik.


Her marriage to Frank Decker, who survives, took place at St. Louis Catholic Church on May 28, 1942. They farmed the home place in the Town of Little Black until retiring in 1975. They continued to reside on the farm.


She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed making quilts for family and friends and gardening.


In addition to her husband, survivors include, three sons, Joe (Judy), Wausau, Fred (Chris), Medford, and Mike (Connie), Dorchester three daughters, Claudette Saladin, Las Vegas, Nev., Rachel (Wayne) Gebert, Medford, and Kristine (Roger) Ellenbecker, Allenton three sisters, June Rudesill, West Allis, Jocile (Jim) Peterson, Iron River, and Mary Ann (Frank) Gebert, Wausau 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
