GORDON ROBERTS


Funeral services for Gordon Roberts, 56, Greenwood, Clark County, will be held Thursday, May 20, at 10:30 a.m. at the Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood. Rev. David Wenger, pastor of our Savior's Lutheran Church, Greenwood, will officiate, with burial in the Loyal, Clark County Cemetery. Mr. Roberts was killed in and auto accident Sunday, May 16, 1976.


Gordon Roberts was born Sept. 19, 1919, at Abertillery, Wales. He came to Canada with his parents and later settled in the U.S. He lived in Michigan, Ohio, Florida and Wisconsin. He attended schools at Abertillery and in Canada and Michigan.


During World War II he served in the United States Navy.


He had worked as a tool and die maker in Ohio. Later he ran K-Korners Tavern and the Loyal Bowling Alley. In 1969, he moved to Florida, where he again worked as a tool and die maker, retiring to Greenwood about two and a half years ago. He worked for M E Development in the same profession. He was a member of the Loyal American Legion Post and Elks Club.


In June 1969 he was married to Betty Luzovec Kotcon.


Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. George (Karen) Brenner Jr., Loyal a son, Gordon Michael, Ringwood, N.J. two step-daughters, Lynn and Roberta Kotcon, both living at home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Roberts, St. Petersburg, Fla. a brother, John of Hudson, Fla. a sister, Mrs. Vern (Audrey) Kennerly, Richmond Heights, Ohio and three grandchildren, Steven, Dean and George Brenner III of Loyal.


A stepson, Michael Kotcon was killed in the same auto accident.
