ELLEN MARGARET OLSON JOHNSON (Apr. 22, 1902-Jan. 5, 1986)


Word has been received in Wausau of the recent death of Ellen M. Johnson, 83, Neillsville, formerly of Wausau.


The former Ellen Olson was born April 22, 1902, in Curtiss, daughter of Oluf and Myrtle Olson. She was married to Maynard Johnson June 20, 1928. He died in 1930.


She attended Abbotsford and Neillsville schools, graduating from high school in 1920. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and received her master's degree from the University of Eau Claire.


Mrs. Johnson taught school in the Wausau Public School System for 29 years, 18 of them in the primary department in the Grant and Longfellow schools, and 11 years in the special education department. She also taught in Neillsville and other areas in the state.


Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. David (Barbara) Daniel, Cambria, Mrs. Sarah Schwarze, Greenwood, Mrs. Fern Holt, Neillsville, and Mrs. William (Mildred) Strausborger, Mesa, Ariz. and three brothers, Gilbert Olson, Rice Lake, Kenneth Olson, Neillsville, and Oluf Olson, Wisconsin Rapids. An infant son and two brothers died earlier.


Services were held in Neillsville.
