DIED--McCalvy, Ann (1825-1905)

Mrs. Robert McCalvy died at her home in this city Saturday, Sept. 23, 1905. She and her husband had but recently sold their little farm in Pine Valley and purchased a house in Neillsville, which they were having fitted up for a comfortable home for their old age. Deceased was born in Albany, N.Y., March 4, 1825, her maiden name being Ann Alida Rector.

January 14, 1849, she was married to Robert McCalvy in the town of Farminton, Washington county, Wis. For seven years they lived in Sheboygan county, moving to Fond du Lac county, where they resided till 1868, when they came to Clark County, settling in the town of Eaton. Their home was then in a wilderness. For two years, the nearest neighbor was two miles away. There she assisted her husband in opening up the farm which was their home till 1901. They then moved to Pine Valley west of this city, living there till last July. Beside her husband she leaves six children to mourn her death, namely George, Thomas and Albert, Mrs. Della Bullard, Mrs. Sophonia Basset, and Mrs. Margaret Russell, also a number of grand children and great grand children. She was a consistent Christian, for many years a member of the Presbyterian church, and a woman greatly loved and respected by all. While advance to years much beyond the average of human life, yet her death leaves a sad vacancy in her family circle. The bereavement is especially sad to the aged husband with whom for more than fifty-six years, she had toiled and worked out life's duties.
