ANOTHER PIONEER HAS GONE TO REST

Death took one of Greenwood's early residents on Wednesday, Sept. 5, when Ole Moberg, 69, passed away at his home here.

Mr. Moberg was stricken with a paralytic stroke Saturday Sept. 1st, from which he failed to rally.

From the time of the stroke he remained in a state of coma, his death coming peacefully on Wednesday afternoon. Members of his family were at the bedside when death came.
Ole Moberg was born in Varmland, Sweden Sept. 17, 1858. If he had lived a few days longer he would have reached his seventieth year.

He spent his early manhood in Sweden and his marriage to Martha Christina Anderson took place there. In 1894, he with his wife and their son, Arverd, came to this country. They arrived June 21, 1894, and came to Greenwood. Here, Mr. Moberg bought the land on which he and his family have lived continuously, clearing the land and developing it into a modern farm.
A faithful friend, a devoted father and a kindly neighbor, he death removes from the community one of its most esteemed residents.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday from the home at 1:30 o'clock in the flower banked room in which the body lay, and at 2:00 o'clock at Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. D. S. Householder, pastor of the church officiating. The choir rendered several songs during the services.

Members of the Modern Woodmen of America, Camp 1450, of which Mrs. Moberg was a charter member, attended the services and members of the camp served as pallbearers.
The pastor, in speaking of Mr. Moberg's life, paid high tribute to his character and the Christian principles which won him a high place in his community.

Burial following the services was made in the Greenwood cemetery. G. W. Bishop's undertaking and establishment was in charge. The pallbearers were Harry Hogue, C. C. Hoehne, Albert Peterson, O. C. Behrens, A. C. Barr and Ed. Buker.

Surviving are Mrs. Moberg, one daughter, Levina of Hebron, N. D., and five sons. Arverd, East St. Louis, Ill., Harry, Abbotsford, Wis., John, Escanaba, Mich., Elory and Clarence of Greenwood. Four grandchildren, Bernadine, Donald, Clifford and Lloyd, children of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moberg, also survive. The children and grandchildren were all here for the funeral.

A brother, Lars and a sister, Gertrude, who live in Sweden also survive.

Out of town relatives and friends here for the services were Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Rosen and Mrs. Rosen's mother of Sioux Falls, S. D.
