A few years ago he came to Clark County, and bought land in Washburn (Twp.) where he began to open up a farm, taking great interest in the work and gave it up because of failing health, going to reside at LaCrosse. Early in life he became a member of the Christian Church and was ordained a minister in 1875. He however continued the practice of medicine which he began in 1866, following his profession, until age and failing health compelled him to retire from active practice. He was a very generous and spirited man, and won friends wherever he went. He was a prominent Odd Fellow and Grand Army man and had a host of friends in both orders. He leaves a wife and 3 children, two brothers and four sisters. One sister Mrs. Thos. Pool resides on the farm in Washburn. The funeral was held at the M.
