D. V. RICHARDSON AT REST

The Loyal Tribune last week contained an extended obituary mention of D. V. Richardson from which we clip the following paragraphs what will be of interest to Gleaner readers who knew deceased when he practiced law here and since. Mr. Richardson died at Mendota, July 30 of paresis.

"Daniel Victor Richardson was a native of Wisconsin, having been born at Newport, Columbia county, July 29, 1864, forty years and one day prior to his death. At the age of eleven he came with his parents to Spencer, and here he grew to manhood. At the age of seventeen he began a course in college at Hillsdale, Mich., and graduated with honor in June, 1889. During his college career he was studious and attentive to the work in hand and it was a Source of pride to his family and friends in Spencer that the young graduate had so far succeeded in his ambitions. His parents being of limited fortune much of the expense of his education he earned himself by teaching, having taught in the public schools of Spencer and other places. After some deliberation he settled upon the law as a profession. He attended a law school at Chicago and was there admitted to the bar in 1892 and for two years he followed his profession at Greenwood, Wis. About this time he saw an opening at Loyal, Wis., for a newspaper and with B. M. Fullmer of that place he began publishing the Loyal Tribune, having purchased the outfit of the Spencer Tribune and moved it to Loyal. Soon after he purchased the interest of Mr. Fullmer and continued as sole publisher of the Tribune until compelled by ill health to abandon newspaper work.

"The burial services were from the M. E. church in Spencer, Aug. 3, the pall bearers being chosen from his former business associates in Loyal. The services were conducted by Rev. J. A. Hill of Loyal and were largely attended, many being present from abroad. He was laid to rest in Spencer cemetery beside his father."
