WREN SLONIKER DIED FROM GUN SHOT.

Wren Sloniker, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Sloniker, who reside in Loyal township three and a half miles east and south of this city, was fatally wounded Sunday about noon from an accidental discharge of a shot gun he was carrying.

In the forenoon he had gone hunting in the back woods of the farm in company with his younger brother, Ross, and a faithful old dog that had been kept on the farm several years. On returning home for the noon meal it is thought the boy slipped on some ice in the pasture, and fell causing the discharge of the gun. She shot caught him in the side and made a large wound that caused his demise on Monday noon.

The theory of the family as to the accidental shooting is based upon evidence shown at the place where the boy was found. It is hard to tell how long he had laid in the woods, as the first warning the family had was the return of the dog who acted so peculiar. Later the repeated calls of the boy were heard and he was soon found lying the above stated condition. Medical aid was summoned and all that could possibly be done for the young man was of no avail.

Wren Sloniker was born on the farm where his parents now reside. Dec. 1897, and had he lived until the last day of this month he would have reached the age of eighteen years.

Thus a young life just entering into manhood with all the possibilities of this world before him, has been snuffed out and only the memory of his presence lingers to comfort those who honored and cherished him.

Deceased leaves his parents, two brothers, Earl and Ross, and three sisters, Mrs. Arnold Beyer and Zula and Floy all of this place.

Funeral services will be held at the M. E. church this afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. J. S. Willmarth officiating and the F. R. A. lodge of which deceased was a member will also take part in the service. Burial will be made in Greenwood Cemetery.
