OBITUARY OF MRS. THRON WINDOM
 

Mrs. Thron Windom, for a number of years a resident at the Theodore Withee farm at Hemlock, four mile north of Greenwood, Clark County, passed to the Great Beyond, Monday Feb. 13, 1928 at 1:00 P.M., following an illness of a year duration. She had been in poor health for the last sixteen years. The last year she had been bedridden, and Saturday morning was stricken with Apoplexy, but regained consciousness until Sunday morning at 4:30 when she was again stricken losing her voice, and gradually getting weaker until death released her from her suffering.

Randi Halvorson was born in Hadeland, Norway, Sept. 2, 1861. At the age of 12 years, together with her parents, sister and brother, they started out from Norway and arrived in Spring Grove, Minn., where they lived for two years. From there they started out with teams for Richland County, N.D., traveling on foot part way.

At the age of 15 years she was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Hickson, N.D., by Pastor Fjorde. She started out working to help her parents until the fall of 1882, when she left for North Bend, Wis., where she met Thron Windom, to whom she was married Dec. 23, 1882 by L. F. Crandall.

They then settled on a homestead in Jackson County. To this union was born thirteen children, eight boys and five girls. The children's names are as follows: Theodore, Hans, Peter, Christ, Tina of Elbow Lake, Minn., Oliver and Mary of Wilson, Wis., Nelda, Lindo, Elmer, Carrie, Helen and Otto. The family lived at North Bend on their farm until the fall of 1913, they sold their farm, moving out west to Walcolt, N.D. In the fall of 1915, sorrow first entered this family, calling to the Great Beyond, their daughter and sister, Carrie at the age of 10 years.

In the fall of 1929 the family wended their way eastward, settling at the Theodore Withee farm.

The children were all at their mothers bedside except Mary, who was unable to come in time to see her mother alive. Mrs. Windom was a very good worker, a kind and loving wife and mother. She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband and the children, on grandchild, one sister, Mrs. P.O. Backlund, Hickson, N.D. and one brother, Peter Halvorson of Jamestown, N.D. and a great host of relatives and friends.

It had always been her wish to be taken back to her old home at North Bend, Wis., for burial, but on account of bad roads, she will be laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery until the roads will be in condition for the family to fulfill her wish.

Services will be held at the home Thursday at 1:30 o'clock and at the Norwegian Luther Church at Greenwood at 2:30 P.M., Rev. M. K. Aaberg officiating.
