OBITUARY OF JOHN MACK


John Mack
, 85, died at the home of his daughter Mrs. S. G. Swanson at Shell Lake, Wis. Sept. 1, 1933.


He was born April 20, 1848 at Belleville, Ontario, Canada and came to the United States when he was 16 years old, where he spent his earlier years working in the lumber woods of Michigan and Wisconsin.


He was married to Miss Emily E. Jabas at Appleton, Wis., March 31, 1874, where he was engaged in farming, coming to Clark County in 1884. He cleared and improved a farm in the Town of Eaton on the Twenty-Six road, now the Amel Warnke farm.


In 1904 he moved to Shell Lake, where he conducted a Meat Market until 1914, when he retired from active business.


He leaves to mourn his loss, his widow, two daughters, Mrs. J. H. Fradette, Neillsville Mrs. S. G. Swanson, Shell Lake and five sons, Eugene W. of El Paso, Texas Earl L., Bandon, Oregon Jason C., Minneapolis, Minn. John E., Cooperstown, N.D. Cullen H., Ada, Minn. Also two brothers, Dr. D. W. Mack, Portland, Oregon, and George E. Mack, High River, Alberta, Canada.


He was buried at Shell Lake, Wis., Sunday Sept. 3rd, Rev. Lockhart of the M. E. Church officiating.


He will be remembered by the old settlers in and around Greenwood, Loyal and Neillsville and in Shell Lake, Wis., the home of his later years, for his neighborliness and kindly philosophy.
