RITES HELD TUESDAY FOR A.H. MCCARTY


GREENWOOD
--Rites for Almon Hart McCarty, 63, prominent town of Longwood, Clark County farmer, who died Friday, May 7, 1937, at the Owen, Clark County Hospital as a result of injuries received Thursday when he was kicked by a horse, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Grace Methodist Church, Greenwood. The Rev. C.R. Gaylord officiated, and interment took place in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Pallbearers were Carl Sorenson, Arthur Swenson, Thomas Haas, Ed Miller, Otto Wetzel, and Alvin Thorson.


Among the many out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Farewell, Lansing, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Allan McCarty, Fond du Lac Lawrence Tomley, Whitehall Mr. and Mrs. Haskell McCarty and daughter, Beryl, Rockford, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bowen, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shaw and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barr, Neillsville and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Barrett, Thorp.


Mr. McCarty was a lifelong resident of the town of Longwood, where he was born July 24, 1873. He was married there on April 7, 1899 to Jessie Barr, who survives him. Mr. McCarty was active in various offices, was a member of the school board and president of the Parent-Teachers association for a number of years, and was an active member of the Clark County Democratic organization.
