ARTHUR HARKNESS PASSES AWAY


Arthur Harkness, son of Mrs. J. Harkness of Luck, Wis., passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield Friday, June 23, 1939 at 4:30 a.m. following an illness of three weeks of brain hemorrhages. He had reached the age of 20 years, 3 months and 10 days.


He is survived by his mother, three brothers, Elmer of Indianapolis, Ind. Victor at home Hugh Jr. of Hawthorn, Wis. and one sister, Margaret, also at home. His father preceded him in death 8 years ago.


The body was brought to Greenwood, Clark County on Friday and a rosary service was conducted Sunday at 1:15 p.m. by Rev. Father J. J. Novak at the Schiller Funeral Home, which was attended by many local friends, after which the body was taken to his home near Luck and on Monday at 9:30 a.m. A funeral mass was read at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Georgetown and he was laid to rest in the parish cemetery beside his father.


Those attending the funeral from Greenwood were the deceased's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Kitzhaber, daughter, Catherine and Delores and son Bud, who was one of the pallbearers.


The funeral was in charge of Mr. T. F. Schiller.


The Harkness family at one time resided on a farm north of Greenwood, now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Tony Lindner.
