OSCAR DOC MEINHOLDT


Funeral services for Oscar Doc Meinholdt, 69, of 308 South Hendren Ave., Greenwood, Clark County, were conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Zion United Church of Christ, Greenwood.


Mr. Meinholdt passed away at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 15 of an apparent heart attack while in his car traveling on County Trunk G.


Rev. David Logue officiated at the ceremony and Gary Schultz was the soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Gary Schultz at the organ.

 

Interment was made in the West Side Cemetery, with full military rites performed by the Greenwood Legion. Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of arrangements.


Oscar Meinholdt was born on Sept. 2, 1907 at Greenwood to Theodore and Ada Meinholdt. He attended Greenwood rural schools and Greenwood High School. He was confirmed at Immanuel United Church of Christ.


He worked for a de-construction company, working in almost every state in his early days. He served as a ship's cook in the Navy from March 31, 1942 until Nov. 8, 1945, during World War II.


He was married to Jo Ann Rosinski in Chicago on Feb. 2, 1946. He owned a tavern in Atwood, Wis. and also managed several other taverns, including the Legion Hall at Greenwood, a tavern at Loyal and one at Rock Dam. He also worked for Volovsek's Cabinet Shop for many years, and also for Pathfinder Mobile Homes at Spencer for a few years.


He was a member of the Greenwood Legion and Zion United Church of Christ.


Surviving him are his wife, Jo Ann one daughter, Mrs. IdaGene (Dan) Simonson of Ripon three brothers, Art of Merrillan, Louis of Neillsville and Ed of Loyal and one sister, Mrs. Hans (Alma) Kolpanen of Milwaukee.


Serving as pallbearers were Jake Barr, Clifford Rask, John Kaltinger, Robert Bogdonovich, Howard Susa and Elmer Schuette.


He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
