CHARLES GILMAN COLE PASSES AWAY


Charley Gilman Cole
was the son of Gilman and Amanda Cole. He was born Oct. 8, 1869 at Reedsburg, Sauk County, Wis. and passed away Sept. 19, 1940 at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 11 days.


The early part of his life was spent at Reedsburg, after which he moved with his parents to Woodstock, where he lived until 1911, when he moved to Butler, Clark County, where he has since resided.


In the past five years he has suffered three strokes, which caused his health to fail. On Saturday, Sept. 14, he was taken to the Clark County Hospital, when he contracted bronchial pneumonia and passed away Sept. 19, 1940.


He leaves to mourn, his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Cole of Butler, one nephew, six great-nieces and two great-great-nephews, besides a number of cousins and many friends.


Funeral services were conducted at his home in Butler on Friday Sept. 20. On Saturday morning he was taken to Woodstock and laid to rest beside his parents and sister. The Rev. Irish of Thorp conducted the service at the home, while the Rev. D. S. Householder, of Bloom City, an old friend and schoolmate of the deceased conducted the service at the grave.


Those from away who attended the funeral at the home were Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Beckman and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brooks and son of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. George Steinhaus and daughter of Cornell, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Neuendorff of Chippewa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Johnson and family and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nelson of Greenwood.
