MICHAEL PLAUTZ DIES FOLLOWING ACCIDENT


Greenwood--Michael Plautz, son of the late Stephen and Mary Popovich Plautz, was born in the Town of Eaton, now Town of Hendren, Clark County, on July 18, 1910. Here he grew to manhood and on June 27, 1942 was united in marriage to Mary Snedic at Willard. To this union were born two sons, Michael Jr. and Patrick James.


Mike, as he was know to all, was injure fatally when a dump truck filled with dirt backed over him. The accident occurred on Saturday morning July 2, 1949 about 1 miles northwest of Greenwood where the road was being graded. Mike was helping to get a grader out of the ditch and didn't hear the truck, which was backing up and was not seen by the driver of the truck. Dr. Wm. Olson was call, they then rushed him to St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he passed away the same afternoon.


A Requiem Mass was read by Rev. Father John Novak of Greenwood at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard on Tuesday, July 5, 1949 at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Father Odilo and choir sang at the mass. He was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery in Willard.


The pallbearers were Stanley Pekol, Ludwig Artach, Andrew and Roger Djubenski, John F. Trunkel and Leo Gregorich.


He is survived by his wife and sons, Michael age 6, and Patrick Age 3 mo., six brothers, Joe, John, Steve, Frank, Emil and George, and six sisters, Mrs. George (Angeline) Kuge, West Allis Miss Sophie Plautz, Milwaukee Mrs. John (Mary) Zallar, Mrs. Anna Kokaly and Mrs. Frank (Roseline) Pakiz, Willard and Mrs. Leo (Helen) Albright of Wausau.


His father passed away on Oct. 11, 1926 and his mother on April 11, 1948.


Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Zueg, Athens Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Farrell, Mr. and Mrs. George Kuge, Miss Sophia Plautz, Milwaukee Mr. and Mrs. Joe Snedic and son Joel, Edward Snedic and son Ronald, Mrs. Theresa Zupancic and son Joe, Joliet, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bostjancich and son Bob, Plainfield, Ill. Mrs. Helen Vicich, Chicago, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Albright and sons Leroy and James (The rest of my copy was cut off)
