WALLIS FUNERAL


Greenwood--Funeral services were held for Dean Wilton Wallis, 73, who died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Plahn, at Clayton, Wednesday, July 2, 1947. The Rev. J. C. Klingeberger, pastor of West Side Reformed Church, conducted the services at the Schiller Funeral Home, Greenwood, Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial took place in the family lot in the Greenwood Cemetery.


He was born July 14, 1874 in Bloomington, and was married to Mrs. Alice Sanford Sept. 18, 1908. He came to Greenwood, Clark County when he was 13 years old and resided here since until 1944, when due to failing health, he went to live at the Plahn home in Clayton.


He is survived by his wife of Greenwood and seven children, Leo Wallis, Calif. Mrs. Leona Plahn, Clayton Mrs. Irene Rydel, Mrs. Eleanore Mitchell, and Mrs. Elsie Montez, all of St. Paul, Minn. Staff Sgt. Donald Wallis, Tucson, Ariz. and Harry Wallis at home and also two step-daughters, Mrs. Oro Hulett, Hixon, and Mrs. Mabel Farley, St. Paul.


Other survivors are 12 grandchildren one great-grandchild, and one sister, Mrs. Grace Millard, Wolf Point, Mont.


Hew was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorraine, in infancy, and Pfc. Norman Wallis in World War II, also two children by a former marriage, Henry D. Wallis in World War I and Mona.
Pallbearers were Simon Schwarze, Irvin Leach, Albert Dahl, Fred Decker, E. T. Opdycke, and Edwin Kern.


During the services Mrs. Albert Dahl and Mrs. Louis Behrens, accompanied by Mrs. John Meng, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden".
