JOSEPH CERNE


Greenwood--Rites have been arranged for 2 p.m. Monday at Stabnow Funeral Home here for Joseph Cerne, 52, Willard, Clark County, operator of a resort at Rock Dam, who died Thursday, Nov. 5, 1956 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley after extended illness.


The Rev. Charles Koch, pastor of the Zion and West Side Evangelical and Reformed Churches, will conduct the services and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Withee.
Beginning Sunday noon, friends may call at the funeral home.


Mr. Cerne was born in Yugoslavia March 9, 1904 and came to Willard with his parents, the late Michael Cernes, 36 years ago. He was employed in Chicago for a time and in 1946 purchased the Rock Dam Resort, where he had since resided. He was married Dec. 20, 1953 at Neillsville to Della Bestel, who survives him.


Other survivors are three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. George (Tillie) Podovich and Mrs. Louis (Christina) Fortuna, both of Willard Mrs. Joseph (Steffie) Cohara, Denver, Colo. Frank, Chicago and Michael, who operates the home farm in Willard.
