Hirschman, John M. Sr. (1898 - 1964)


GREENWOOD--John Morrison Hirschman, Sr., 65, route 1, Loyal, Clark County, formerly of Chicago, died after a lingering illness at 7:45 p.m. Sunday at his home.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood. The Rev. Arvid Myhrwold, pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, will officiate, and burial will be made in the Sunset Memorial Park at Minneapolis.


John Hirschman Sr. was born Oct. 26, 1898, in Chicago. His marriage to Mary Burbridge took place Oct. 21, 1922, in Chicago. After their marriage, the couple lived in Chicago, where Mr. Hirschman was employed at the Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 36 years. He retired in the fall of 1963, and then spent some time in California, before coming to Loyal March 5 to make his home.


In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, John, Orange, Calif. and George, Lockport, Ill. three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Marian) Fitzl, Loyal Mrs. James (Charlotte) Rogers, Hampton, N.J. and Mrs. Robert (Helen) Fitzl, Greenwood two brothers, Richard Hirschman, California and Joseph , Harvey, Ill. and 15 grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by a sister.
