Ludwig, Charles F. (1881 - 1959)


GREENWOOD--Charles F. Ludwig, 77, retired Greenwood, Clark County merchant, died at his home early Sunday morning, June 14, 1959. He had been in ill health many years.


Funeral services are set for Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Hill Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Edward Hartung officiating. Burial will be made in Greenwood Cemetery.


The body will repose at the Hill Funeral Home beginning this evening. A rosary service will be held there at 8 p.m. Tuesday.


Mr. Ludwig was born at Rice Lake on July 28, 1881. He received his education in the Rice Lake schools and at Marquette University in Milwaukee. He worked for Harry Van Gordon at Alma Center for seven years. From 191 until 1922 he managed the Framer's Store here and then purchased the business. He operated the store until he became ill and retired in 1937.


He was married on June 8, 1922, to the former Rose Speich, who survives him.


He served as president of the Badger State Credit Corporation for almost 24 years and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and several organizations affiliated with the parish.


He is survived by one brother, Edward, Rice Lake, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Roberg, Ladysmith, and Sister M. Ernesta, Appleton.
