Richmond, Harriet (1861 - 1957)


GREENWOOD--Mrs. Harriet Richmond, 95, believed to be the oldest resident of the Greenwood, Clark County area, died at 3 o'clock last night, July 24, 1957, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mrs. Otto Schwarze, from old age complications.


Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Schwarze home, and at 2 o'clock in the Grace Methodist Church. The Rev. Dennis Wendell, Loyal, will officiate in the absence of the Rev. Ethel Nulton, pastor, who is in Japan on a vacation trip. Burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Friends may call at the Schwarze home beginning Friday morning.


The former Harriet Higby was born in the Town of Holland, Sheboygan County, Nov. 12, 1861, and was married there to Fayette Richmond in Nov. 1884. The couple lived in Sheboygan County until 1900, and then moved to a farm south of Greenwood. In 1912 they moved into town. Mr. Richmond died in 1919. For the past 29 years Mrs. Richmond had made her home with he daughter, Mrs. Otto (Florence) Schwarze.


Other surviving daughters are Mrs. Vivian (Mary) Carteron, Greenwood and Mrs. William (Eunice) Fredrick, Barrington.
