McCarty, Justin (1902 - 1956)


GREENWOOD--Funeral rites were conducted here Wednesday for Justin McCarty, 54, St. Louis, Mo., a former Resident of Greenwood, Clark County. Following services at Grace Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ethel Nulton officiating, burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Mr. McCarty was born Sept. 12, 1902 in Longwood, Clark County. He attended grade school there and was graduated from Greenwood High School in 1920. An engineer with the Rural Electrification Administration, he left here in 1937 on a research project for the REA in Palmer, Alaska, and after returning to the States he worked for the U.S. Army Engineers.


Since 1944 he had been employed by a private contractor and the family moved to St. Louis, Mo. In 1949. He worked until he became ill in July 1955. His death occurred Dec. 23, 1956 in St. Louis.


He married Myrtha Wilson in 1939 at Osceola. Besides her, he leaves one son, Michael, St. Louis his mother, Mrs. Almon McCarty, Saginaw, Mich. two sisters, Miss Elizabeth McCarty and Mrs. Howard (Violet) Farewell, both of Saginaw and one brothers, Allen, Fond du Lac. He was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Charlotte, and a brother, Vernon.
