Boe, Henry Olaf (1866 - 1955)


GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY--Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church for Henry Olaf Boe, 89, former Greenwood resident who died at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 1955 at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Brady Vamstad, where he had resided the past year. He had been in poor health for some time.


The Rev. Magnus S. Egge will officiate and burial will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery. The body will repose at the Hill Funeral Home until 11:30 a.m. Thursday, when it will be taken to the church to lie in state until services.


Mr. Boe was born feb. 2, 1866, at Blanchardville, where he received his education. In 1894 he was married in Green County to Randena Erickson, who died March 21, 1935. The couple farmed in Blanchardville until 1903, when they came to Greenwood and settled on a farm 7 miles northwest of here. Since his retirement in 1933, Mr. Boe made his home with his children.


He was school clerk and supervisor in the Town of Mead for many years, and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.


He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Brady (Agnes) Vamstad, Withee Mrs. Henry (Hazel) Thompson, Thorp Mrs. Carl (Amanda) Jorenby and Mrs. Charles (Julia) Ormond, both of Kennedy, N.Y. and Miss Thea Boe, Los Angeles, Calif. seven sons, Lawrence and Marion Boe, Kennedy, N.Y. Alvin and Milton Boe, Jamestown, N.Y. Carl Boe, Randolph, N.Y. Amos Boe, Greenwood and Joseph Boe, Spencer 34 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.


Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.
