Abel, Mary Lydia (1890 - 1967)


GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY--Mrs. Gustave Abel, 77, a lifelong resident of Greenwood, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 1967 at her home. She had been in ill health the past several years.


Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hill Funeral Home here with the Rev. Carl Booher, pastor of Grace Methodist Church, Greenwood, officiating. Burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


The body will repose at the funeral home from Sunday afternoon until time of services.


The former Mary Lydia Wehrman was born in the Town of Warner on Jan. 17, 1890. Her marriage to Gustave Abel took place June 22, 1911, at the West Side Reformed Church in Greenwood.


The couple farmed northwest of Greenwood until their retirement several years ago, when they moved to the city of Greenwood.


In addition to her husband, survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Norman (Selma) Geisler, Owen Misses Elsie and Marcella Abel, Greenwood three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.


Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
